Our
first mission after arrival in Laos is to set up the IT center with
the 20 PCs that we hand carried over with us. Once the IT center
is set up, the expedition set off to the school site to prepare
for construction of a classroom.
Hua Hong Primary School
Hua Hong Primary
School provides education for about 300 children, below the age of
12. In order to provide a better learning environment for the childern,
the expedition constructed another classroom next to the main school
building. It is the first ime when most expedition team members, if
not all, see for themselves how a small classroom can be constructed
using simple tools.It is often heard that having a strong fondation
is cruical to the success. After leveling and strengthing ground,
we proceed to build the roof, before erecting the wall. The classroom
was finally completed in two weeks.
Other Programs
In the midst
of setting up of IT center and building of classroom, we held a
barbeque session with our host and also visited the Singapore Embassy.
Other cultural exchange programs like sharing sessios were also
carried out. The trip not only allows many of us to know more about
the Laos culture but make many friends which we still keep in contact
till today.
